In this video we’ll work on standalone eService. At MyFileRunner you can electronically serve opposing counsel directly in four easy steps. We make it easy, so why wait — let’s do this.

Search Case Details

These are the same steps as filing into an existing case, so we made it familiar for you. First, click the “My eServices” button, then click the big blue button that says “Submit eService.”

You’re now in Search Case Details. Select your location — in this example we’re using Bastrop District Clerk. Enter the case number you are serving in and click the Search button.

Case List

Your case list will automatically populate. You’ll see your location (Bastrop District), your case number, and the case type, along with two action icons: a blue eyeball to View and a red envelope to Serve Filing. Click the red envelope to serve the filing.

Case Information

You’re now in Step 1: Case Information. All fields will have automatically populated, so the only selection you need to make is your Payment Account. Note that there is no charge for eService — this is simply a required field for the system. Click Next.

Parties

Step 2 is Parties. Your parties will automatically populate. Check that you are the Plaintiff since you’re the one serving, then click Next.

Service Contacts

Step 3 is Service Contacts. You have the option to search for a service contact by first name, last name, firm name, or email — enter that information and click “Search for Attorney.” You can also select from existing firm contacts by clicking the arrow. You’ll see your available attorneys listed — select the appropriate attorney for the case. A pop-up will appear asking whether to assign them as Plaintiff, Defendant, or to the overall Case. Select the appropriate radio button — in our example the attorney is with the Plaintiff — then click OK.

eService

Your attorney has been added. Click Next to move to Step 4: eService. You’ll see your Service Type, which is Service Only, followed by your Client or Matter Number — enter however you reference this case. Next, enter your Service Description — this is whatever you’re serving, in our case it’s Discovery.

Discovery

Under Lead Document, click “Browse Computer” to upload your document. If you have additional documents, you can upload those as well. In our example we just have the discovery document, so we select it, and once uploaded you’ll see the hyperlink for your lead document.

File Summary

Click “Save and Next” to reach the grand finale — Step 5: Filing Summary. Review your Case Information, Parties, Filings (which will show your service), and Service Contacts to confirm the attorney you added is listed correctly. Under Fees, as mentioned, eService is a free service so you can disregard this section. Confirm your Filing Attorney and click “Submit eService.”

We told you we made this easy — happy filing!
